It was an evening in 1939 when the Hollywood Cowboy Detectives—real-life Western stars Hoot Gibson, Ken Maynard, Nick Danby, and PR flack Curly Woods—were enjoying a few cold beers at Rinty's. The four were about to call it a night when a beautiful woman dressed all in black from head to toe walked in and threw the heroes...not a bouquet, but a German hand grenade.

As a badly injured Curly lies unconscious in a hospital, guarded by Danby, Gibson and Maynard set out to track down the Nazi assassin known as the Black Widow. But with each clue they follow, they are being lured inexorably into one of the most fiendish death traps ever devised. What can two aging cowboy stars possibly do, with the might of Hitler's entire war machine focused on their deaths?
